Symbolic Immersion Therapy or Sittherapy was created by Dr. Nicola Bird in the early 1990s to help you make long lasting positive changes in your life. Sittherapy uses your own self-images to help you to look at yourself and to understand the deep-rooted causes of your feelings and behaviours. Symbolic Immersion Therapy teaches you how to get in touch with, heal, and alter the patterns, thoughts, and emotions that cause you to feel unhappy, anxious, distressed, imbalanced, and so on.   Although Symbolic Immersion Therapy is a mental health therapy, it does see you as a whole person, and thus creates positive changes in both your mind and your body.

Sittherapy is a self-directed therapy that anyone can do. In fact, Symbolic Immersion Therapy is such an easy process that you can do it over the telephone. The idea of using symbols may sound difficult, but you are simply looking at your own self-images. All of the symbols and images come from within you and tell your own story. Symbolic Immersion Therapy allows you to progress quickly because you are dealing with your experiences, feelings, and thoughts using your own self-images: you change the symbols that are negative into ones that are positive. In this way, you create positive changes and improve your whole health because you learn to identify with your new and affirmative self-images.
